World AIDS Day 2016

As we have since 1993, The Center in Asbury Park family gathered to commemorate World AIDS Day. And again we were hosted by Trinity Church. And again The MAST School Music Group along with Andrew DePrisco and Christine Kephart help us remember with inspiring and moving music. This year we also had a video remembering those who have died created by Andrew Incandela the Notre Dame Student who was our summer intern. We've come a long way since 1993 as far as this disease goes. In those early years we lost so many of our friends each year. But we're still losing too many. Over 1.2 million people are living with HIV in the US - worldwide the figures are overwhelming. And so we gather. The theme this year was "Leadership. Commitment. Impact. Wanda D Smith, who has shared an original poem each year, read her poem based on the theme reminding us of the need to challenge our leaders as well as ourselves to "make things better, nor worse." Thanks to all who helped us remember.
